Abstract: Objective To investigate the effectiveness and acceptability of ophthalmology video teaching cases in health law specialty. Methods A total of 20 medical health law undergraduates of class 2020 for clinical training in Beijing Chaoyang Hospital, Capital Medical University were included in the experimental group (ophthalmology video teaching cases for health law specialty). The group were asked to watch an ophthalmology video teaching case and to read study materials before formal lecture in class, and 20 students of class 2018 were included in the control group (traditional clinical teaching mode group). They were assigned to traditional lecture-based instruction who attended a didactic lecture and completed assigned homework after the lecture. Feedback questionnaires were collected to compare students' perspectives on the teaching approach they experienced. Pre- and post-tests were performed to assess student learning of the course materials. The results were compared between both groups. Results Compared with the control group, students from the experiemenal group performed better on the post-test. The average scores of the experimental group were significantly increased (P<0.05). Questionnaire result shows that most students think that the experiemenal group teaching mode can help to promote their learning motivation, improve their understanding of the course materials, and enhance their understanding of the clinical application of health law in ophthalmology. The difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The ophthalmology video teaching cases for health law specialty shows promise in ophthalmology clinical teaching. Further evaluation and modifications are required before it can be widely accepted and implemented.
