Abstract: Objective  To explore the application of smartphone app in orthopedic microsurgery of medical students. Methods  Randomly divided undergraduate students of 2016 grade   into two groups: control group and experimental group. The control group used CBL teaching (20 students), the experimental group used mobile app teaching combined with CBL teaching (20 students). The basic courses of the two groups were the same, and the training time in orthopedics was 4 months. After the training, the examination included theory test, operation test and questionnaire survey. Results  Through the statistical analysis of the results, it was found that the operation time of the experimental group was significantly shorter than that of the control group, the operation proficiency of the experimental group was better than that of the control group (P<0.05), and the operation performance of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05).  Conclusion  The application of smartphone app combined with CBL teaching method can improve students self-confidence and orthopedic operation ability, and shorten learning time.
