Shenzhen University Health Science Center has been recruiting five-year clinical medicine students since 2009 and boasts of its promising, young teachers with overseas higher education experiences, creative ideas, high enthusiasm and less affected by the traditional medical teaching system. Organ systems based curriculum has been gradually formed, supplemented by the problem-based learning (PBL), the comprehensive evaluation model combined with formative evaluation and summative evaluation. Meanwhile, comprehensive courses such as innovative scientific thinking cultivation, professional attitude and humanities cultivation, environment-society and health were incorporated as necessary support. After more than ten years of
exploration and practice, a unique and innovative clinical medical education system has been constructed, laying the foundation for cultivating innovative clinical medical personnel with excellent comprehensive qualities. At present, the undergraduates’ pass rate of national medical licensing examination in five consecutive years was significantly higher than that of the national average. Students have outstanding performance in clinical diagnosis and treatment and operation ability, scientific research ability, doctor-patient communication ability, self-sustaining development and lifelong learning ability.

With the rapid development of modern medical education, the off-line experimental teaching mode with the sole purpose of
verification can no longer adapt to the development trend of medical education. Based on the experience of experimental teaching reform at home and abroad, the integrative experimental teaching reform and the virtual simulation experimental teaching reform are combined to construct the integrative virtual simulation experimental teaching model of basic medical organ system in Shenzhen University. Its establishment promotes the cross-integration of various disciplines of basic medicine, strengthens the connection between basic medicine and clinical medicine, and improves the experimental teaching effect of
basic medicine by making full use of online and offline mixed teaching resources, combining the virtual with the real, and promoting the real with the virtual.

The “curricular ideology”, as the conceptual support and method system of educational reform in the new era, has guided the establishment of moral education in the right direction. Chinese medical education is to cultivate qualified medical personnel for the party and the country, and to train health guardians for the people. Such national and social needs cannot be separated from the cultivation of medical students humanistic and political qualities. Therefore, from the perspective of curriculum ideology and politics, this article takes the Shenzhen University Health Science Center as a specific case, and explores the path selection and realistic practices of medical humanities education incorporating ideological and political elements from two dimensions of professional curriculum design and characteristic social practice.

Early clinical education plays an important role in improving the quality of medical personnel training. This paper reviewed that over 30 years our university has advocated early clinical education for medical undergraduates, with the penetration of “early clinical correlation”. Furthermore, the education model of early clinical education guaranteed by the first class, enriched by the second class and expanded by the third class has formed in our university, which has cultivated the clinical thinking of medical undergraduates. Facing the new ideas and challenges of modern medical education, combined with the recent advances in our university, the current article puts forward new measures to strengthen the early clinical education for medical undergraduates, which may provide some referential experiences or beneficial suggestions for the medical education in local colleges and universities.

Objective To explore the application of smartphone app in orthopedic microsurgery of medical students. Methods Randomly divided undergraduate students of 2016 grade into two groups: control group and experimental group. The control group used CBL teaching (20 students), the experimental group used mobile app teaching combined with CBL teaching (20 students). The basic courses of the two groups were the same, and the training time in orthopedics was 4 months. After the training, the examination included theory test, operation test and questionnaire survey. Results Through the statistical analysis of the results, it was found that the operation time of the experimental group was significantly shorter than that of the control group, the operation proficiency of the experimental group was better than that of the control group (P<0.05), and the operation performance of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.05). Conclusion The application of smartphone app combined with CBL teaching method can improve students self-confidence and orthopedic operation ability, and shorten learning time.

Objective To analyze the application value of integrated teaching method combined with situational simulation in pediatric practice in our general hospitals. Methods 28 interns in our department in 2018 were chosen as control subjects, and were applied with traditional teaching methods. The other group of 28 interns in our department in 2019 were assigned as the experimental subjects, and were deployed with strategy of integrated teaching combined with situational simulation method. Results There was no significant difference between two groups in theoretical examination, and the total score of clinical skill assessment (five-station rotation test) of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group, with statistically significant difference. Conclusion The integrated teaching combined with situational simulation has significant advantages than the conventional pedagogy in our pediatric practice comparative study. This novel pedagogy can arouse students interests of learning and capability of clinical thinking. Accordingly, their clinical skills will improve as well.

Objective To observe and analyze effects of diversified teaching mode in the ophthalmology training. Methods 37 ophthalmologists of four grades from Xian Medical College who entered Xian Central Hospitals ophthalmology internship were selected and divided into two groups, with 20 as the control group and 17 as the observation group. The observation group adopts a diversified teaching mode for internship training, and the control group adopts the traditional internship training mode. Before the end of the internship, the professional knowledge level, English level and their own comprehensive qualities are tested, and a satisfaction questionnaire is filled out for comparative analysis of the training effect of diversified teaching modes. Results The comparison between both groups showed that there was no statistically significant difference in the theoretical knowledge assessment scores or in the level of professional knowledge (P>0.05), yet there was a statistically significant difference in the skill operation assessment scores (P<0.05). The differences in English proficiency and self-comprehensive quality test results were statistically significant(P<0.05), and there was no statistically significant difference in skill operation satisfaction survey (P>0.05), and all other items were statistically significant (P<0.05). Conclusion The diversified teaching mode is an effective attempt to train ophthalmology interns, and can provide reference for the management and training of internships in other clinical disciplines.

The “early detection, early report, early isolation, early treatment” of COVID-19 is proved effective to control the spread of the epidemic and reduce the infection rate . This epidemic is developing very rapidly. Our hospital is among top three general hospitals in Wuhan. It received patients with new coronary pneumonia at the early stage of the epidemic. With the gradual stabilization of the domestic epidemic, most designated hospitals must gradually restore their daily order of diagnosis and treatment to meet people’s growing medical needs. Under such circumstances, how to gradually restore the routines of outpatient medical services for the top three hospitals, and at the same time to ensure the safety of patients and medical staff, has become an urgent problem for outpatient management. Since the transformation of designated hospitals, our hospital has gradually taken corresponding control measures, constantly explored and improved it, accumulated valuable experience, and ensured the safety of patients and medical staff during the transformation process.

The problems China faced with in initial stages to fight against the COVID-19 exposed inadequate informatization construction of the public health system, poor use of this system, and insufficient public health surreillance networks. Three suggestions are put forward accordingly. Firstly, upgrade public health security to the strategic level of national security, comprehensively integrate information about public health security, and secondly, make full use of modern information technology for better public health monitoring, laboratory monitoring, symptomatic surveillance, and public opinion surveillance, as well as for comprehensive information monitoring network of public health emergencies. Thirdly, optimize the emergency organizational structure and establish a surveillance information coordination mechanism.
