Employment orientation of medical postgraduates in a certain university affiliated hospital

Abstract: Objective  To understand the employment situation of postgraduates in a certain university affiliated hospital in the past five years, so as to provide reference for talent cultivation and employment guidance for future postgraduates. Methods  Collecting the data of employment orientation of 653 postgraduates from 2018 to 2022 majoring in medicine from a certain hospital were statistically analyzed. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square test were used to analyze the data. Results  Among 653 postgraduates, 649 (99.4%) were employed in the year of graduation. of the 649 employed, 481 (74.1%) were employed in Beijing; 430 (66.3%) were employed in medical institutions. Among the 430 postgraduates employed in medical institutions, only 16 postgraduates (3.8%) were not employed in tertiary hospitals. There were statistical differences in the distribution of postgraduates of different genders in employment areas (P<0.05). There were statistical differences in the distribution of postgraduates with different education background in different company characteristics (P<0.05). Conclusion  The employment situation of postgraduates in a certain university affiliated hospital is generally well, but the employment situation at the primary hospitals and communities is still not optimistic. In order to ensure a higher employment rate in the future, we should pay more attention to the quality of training, enhance the competitiveness of employment, strengthen employment guidance, train employment planning consciousness, and guide postgraduates to find jobs at the primary hospitals and communities.
