Current situation of medical humanities education in medical university

Abstract: Objective To investigate and analyze the current situation of curriculum and teaching in medical humanities education from Capital Medical University, and to put forward countermeasures and suggestions for the existing problems.Methods The Questionnaire of Medical Humanities Education for Medical Students (campus version) was independently designed for the online survey of clinical medicine, pediatrics, stomatology, preventive medicine and Traditional Chinese Medicine in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 (including 5-year, 7-year and "5+3" programs). A total of 1 029 valid questionnaires were collected, with an effective rate of 89.63%. SPSS21.0 was used for descriptive statistical analysis.Results Medical humanities education has a high degree of satisfaction from medical students, The degree of satisfaction in cognitive satisfaction of medical education among clinical medicine, stomatology and pediatrics with different school system was significantly different (P<0.05). Learning interest and curriculum content are the primary factors that affect the teaching effect and popularity. Large class teaching and closed-book examination dominate the medical humanities classes, and there is little understanding of the frontier of medical humanities. The learning demands of medical students are mainly manifested in strengthening the formation evaluation, online and offline mixed teaching; infiltrating medical humanities education into medical professional courses; strengthening medical humanistic social practices and humanistic environment construction of affiliated hospitals, etc.Conclusion It is necessary to renew educational concepts, teach students according to their aptitude, systematically promote the reform of curriculum and teaching of medical humanities education, strengthen research training of medical humanities, and improve medical students' comprehensive literacy and ability of medical humanities.
