Abstract: ObjectiveTo evaluate the health education work related to the use of the WeChat official accounts in Beijing AAA hospitals during the COVID-19 epidemic in 2020, and to provide a basis for how to carry out public health education during major public health emergencies.  MethodsThe posts of health education related to the epidemic were collected and analyzed from Beijing AAA hospitals’ official WeChat accounts. ResultsA total of 1 405 COVID-19-related public health education articles were published by 53 hospitals during the outbreak, with accumulated reading volume of 3 684 562. The earliest post appeared on January 15, and all posts covered 22 disciplines. 637 (33.3%) posts were original to hospitals, with the dominant posts were on the topic of anti-infective behavior. The number of reads was positively correlated with whether they were original, the number in view, and whether they matched the expertise, and negatively correlated with the number of days after publication. ConclusionDuring the epidemic, the popular science education work of the WeChat official accounts of Beijing AAA hospitals was extensive, rapid and effective. In future public health education, it is recommended that the hospitals' WeChat official accounts standardize management use and  improve originality.
