Establish a sound public health information monitoring system to protect public health after COVID-19

Abstract: The problems China faced with in initial stages to fight against the COVID-19 exposed inadequate informatization construction of the public health system, poor use of this system, and insufficient public health surreillance networks. Three suggestions are put forward accordingly. Firstly, upgrade public health security to the strategic level of national security, comprehensively integrate information about public health security, and secondly, make full use of modern information technology for better public health monitoring, laboratory monitoring, symptomatic surveillance, and public opinion surveillance, as well as for comprehensive information monitoring network of public health emergencies. Thirdly, optimize the emergency organizational structure and establish a surveillance information coordination mechanism.
