Abstract: Worldwide COVID-19 prevention and control measures have restricted the international students from travelling and they cannot return to schools, made regular in-person teaching impossible. Major international institutions in China have developed and adopted multiple innovative online teaching modes and methods. Compared with regular in-person classes for the Chinese students, international students taking online classes will experience some unexpected problems and challenges. This paper analyzes these issues and complications that are faced by international medical students in English medium online teaching mode, such as time zone difference, network and learning equipment issues, how to adjust teaching contents, teaching arrangements and teaching methods and online teaching challenges for teachers. This paper also examines the problems related to the online teaching of medical students in the future.
