Abstract: We briefly summarize the implementation of double tutors system in undergraduate education in China, and discuss the cultivation and reform of double tutors system in forensic medicine, taking world-class undergraduate education into consideration. We focus on providing professional guidance and promoting communication between tutors and students. Considering the strong practice-based feature of forensic medicine, students are matched to both on- and off-campus tutors. The on-campus tutors guide the academic study and research, while the off-campus ones guide practice. Thanks to the double tutors system, communication and cooperation between on- and off-campus tutors are strengthened and advantages are gained and revealed. Academic research can focus on hot issues in real forensic practice more precisely, and then forensic practice progresses in parallel with the advancement of academic research. Eventually, teaching activities benefits from both academic achievements and forensic practice. These can improve the professional quality of forensic undergraduate students and provide resources for forensic continuing education. The pattern that universities and forensic industry jointly nurture talents can promote the sustainable development of forensic medicine in China.
