What degree should be awarded in “5+3” medical education has raised public concerns and is related to the specific establishment of medical professional degree system and the pathway leading to a professional degree. This article compares the status of professional medical and dental degree training in China with MD/DMD/DDS degree training in the United States and proposes to develop a novel training system of professional doctorate degree of stomatology based on clinical standardized training. In addition, it also integrates both undergraduate and postgraduate education into professional degrees. The goal is to establish an innovative dental education model with advanced mission, improved administration and strict assessment standards. Overall, this model is based on a main line of undergraduate-master-doctor professional degree training system, with the faculty and students as a team. In our proposed model, a “1+1+10” assessment system, including a systematic review, a clinical research report and 10 treatment cases, is built to examine students academic and clinical skills. The aim is to establish a closed-loop “goal-training-assessment” pathway so that we can use this system to develop more dentistry talents who have both strong research background and outstanding clinical skills.

Objective    To explore the effect of situational simulation combined with case teaching method in audiology practice teaching. Methods    Forty students were for clinical clerkship in the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-sen University from January 2019 to May 2019. They were divided into two groups: experimental group and control group. The former used situational simulation combined with case teaching method, while the latter used traditional teaching method. At the end of clinical clerkship, two groups were given the corresponding theoretical and operational tests and questionnaires to compare the teaching effects of the two teaching modes. Results   Compared with the control group, the results of case analysis, theoretical examination and practical operation in the experimental group were better than those in the traditional group, with statistical significance (P<0.05). In terms of clinical thinking ability, doctor-patient communication ability, classroom absorption rate, mastery of theoretical knowledge and satisfaction with teaching methods, the differences between the two groups of students were statistically significant (P<0.05), and the experimental group performed better than the control group. Conclusion   Situational simulation combined with case teaching can effectively improve the quality of audiology practice teaching, which is suitable for audiology teaching.

With the reform of the national medical personnel training system and the emergence of the national resident standardized training system, many non-teaching hospitals, which mainly focus on medical activities, have become the national resident standardized training bases. Taking a typical provincial public tertiary hospital as an example, this paper takes high teaching quality as the working goal, and puts forward the working idea of “system first, quantitative work, emphasis on teacher motivation” for the problems in teaching staff and teaching management in the process of standardized training for resident doctors. Aiming at improving teaching system, strengthening the faculty construction and teaching supervision, specific measures, such as fully mobilizing teachers, enthusiasm and initiatives, advocating people-oriented and strengthening link management, have made some achievements in discipline construction, expanding hospital influence, building a harmonious hospital, reducing the rate of medical errors, and improving the teaching quality. Blended teaching integrates multiple resources and tools to optimize teaching, and has proved to be an effective teaching mode. This research explores an online blended writing course design based on needs analysis. Taking 83 students of the 2018 batch majoring in clinical medicine in the 8-year program as subjects, the questionnaire surveyed students, needs for the course of “Medical Literature Reading and Writing”. The results showed that students hope that the course improves their reading and writing abilities while taking into account the improvement of translation abilities and medical vocabulary learning; students writing abilities and autonomous learning abilities are generally lacking; writing strategies are not sufficiently employed. Based on this needs analysis, this research builds an online blended writing teaching design of “MOOC + U campus + rain class + WeChat group” to achieve integrated teaching goals, modular teaching content, intelligent teaching environment, systematic teaching process and formative teaching evaluation. Students, reflective journals and questionnaires show that the course improves students, autonomous learning abilities, enhances writing knowledge and writing strategy awareness, and has achieved good results. In order to guarantee teaching effectiveness, the effectiveness of online blended writing teaching design should be tracked and investigated, the accumulation of medical knowledge of foreign language teachers should be strengthened, and a writing teaching community should be established to help the cultivation of high-level medical talents and the construction of “new medical science” in the new era.

Within the theoretical framework of functional linguistics, a corpus-based approach has been employed to generate the wordlists concerning ideational, interpersonal and textual metafunctions of academic articles on medical science. These wordlists reflect the linguistic features and distribution laws of three metafunctions, and describes the conventions in the process of translating academic articles on medical science: the choice of material, relational, mental and verbal processes to show the transitivity system; the wide range of subject selection to express various degrees of identity-construction consciousness; the use of modal verbs with low and median value; the causal-conditional connectors to form the logic relations in the target text. It has been proven that academic English translation conform to the common practice of academic discourse community in terms of language choice. The probability and typicality of language use given by the corpus-based approach is insightful to the study of academic English translation.
