Abstract: Influenced by modern medicine and historical research, scholars and research achievements on the history of stomatology in ancient China has emerged since the 20th century. They have broken free from the barriers of traditional history writing and made continuous breakthroughs under the guidance of modern research methods, presenting several significant research highlights. The main research areas include: study of oral diseases in oracle bone inscriptions; dental research of early humans in archaeological research; stomatological research in cultural relics and art history studies; stomatological research in works of general medical history; and other aspects of research. It has been gradual attraction on the history of stomatology in ancient China from the academic circles in recent years. However, there are inadequate researchers and the research field is still not broad enough, with research methods to be further expanded. The overall related research is still in its infancy, and the prospects for future research are very promising.
