Abstract: Objective To study the clinical training and teaching practice of medical students' ability to prevent and control infectious diseases. Methods Taking 392 medical students who participated in the clinical internship training of a tertiary hospital in Nantong from June 2021 to May 2022 as the research objects, the training and teaching content of medical students before June 2021 were retrospectively analyzed, and medical students were trained in the prevention and control of infectious diseases. The theoretical knowledge and practical ability test of hospital infection prevention and control were carried out for all medical students before and after the training. The highest score, lowest score and average score of the operation ability test of medical students before and after the training were compared, and the satisfaction survey of hospital infection prevention and control ability training was conducted for all medical students participating in the training after the test. Results The highest score, lowest score and mean score of the theoretical test of the pre-training medical students were 32, 11, and 22.3±2.1; and the highest score, lowest score and mean score of the theoretical test of the medical students after practice were 46, 13, and 34.1±2.6, among which the difference between the before and after means was statistically significant (P<0.05). The highest, lowest and mean scores of the skill operation test of pre-training medical students were 26, 6, and 21.6±1.2, and the highest scores, lowest scores, and mean scores of the skill operation test of post-training medical students were 43, 28, and 37.4±1.7, among which the difference between the before and after mean was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Training medical students in the prevention and control of infectious diseases is conducive to improving their ability to prevent and control hospital infections, thereby strengthening their ability to deal with public health emergencies and the prevention and control of infectious diseases, which is more in line with the needs of clinical practice and talent training.
