Abstract: Objective To promote the development of Chinese health care industry, to implement the strategy of giving priority to the talent development, and to improve the training mechanism for health managers. Methods A systematic research was carried out on the Chinese and foreign health education model, training mechanism and the career practice through a wide range of literature review. Results The number of health managers with varied quality levels in China was not adequate. The relevant laws and regulations were not perfect, neither was the academic theory. The training mode was not sturdy and the concept of paying for health management was difficult to accept. Conclusion Occupational laws and regulations for health managers as well as the policies and measures of their development should be improvd; an academic exchange platform be created; the training system be strengthened; vigorous propaganda be conducted, and social recognition be promoted and enhanced.
