Teaching practice of microteaching combined with flipped classroom in medical humanistic education for residents’ medical humanities training

Abstract: Objective To explore the application effects of the mixed teaching mode of microteaching combined with flipped classroom in the cultivation of humanistic literacy of medical residents in geriatric department.Methods A total of 100 standardized training residents from the geriatric department of a hospital were selected. The experimental group carried out the microteaching combined with flipped classroom teaching model, and the control group carried out traditional teaching rounds. After 1 year's training, the difference of training effect between the two groups was compared through the examinations, including theory test, doctor-patient communication exam and questionnaire survey. Results  The theory test of medical ethics and doctor-patient communication exam were carried out among 100 residents. The score of theory test of observation group was higher than that of control group (92.1±6.4 vs 82.3±7.2, P<0.001); The score of doctor-patient communication exam of observation group was higher than that of control group (89.6±5.3 vs 83.5±5.3, P<0.001).Conclusion The microteaching combined with flipped classroom method can improve the medical humanistic quality of internal medicine residents more effectively in terms of theoretical knowledge and doctor-patient communication skills.
