Inheriting history of stomatology and promoting culture of stomatology—retrospect and prospect of construction of museums of stomatology in China

Abstract: Museums document the development of nature and present the evolution of human history, are important places to study natural and social sciences and to conduct related research. Since the 1930s, museums of stomatology have gradually emerged in China, with a boom in 1980s. International Museum of Stomatology founded by Hospital of Stomatology of the Air Force Medical University is one of the landmark achievements, excellent in exhibition area, exhibition content, collections of cultural relics and global influence, and regarded as a business card of Chinese medicine to the world. International Museum of Stomatology currently has been a well-known Education Center for Medical Humanities as well as Science Education Center in China. It carries various functions such as collection of cultural relics, inheritance of history, academic research and popular science education, etc. This museum will be constructed steadily and extensively, so that oral health care and stomatology might penetrate into people’s hearts through the publicity of the museum and achieve the purpose of universal love and care of teeth.
