Abstract: The research on the history of modern stomatology in China began in the 1940s.After that eighty years of development witnessed many research results, but it still lacks a systematic sorting and analysis of these studies. In order to better promote the stomatology history research, this paper, based on the theory of disciplinary establishment, categorizes the current status and research progress of the stomatology history from four aspects: education, journals, associations and the system of management for licensed dentists. The analysis of research progress elaborates the social and cultural attributes of stomatology history, and it will help to clarify the future direction of stomatology, provide reference for researchers to conduct in-depth research from multiple perspectives, and also provide information for the future of stomatology history research.
