Abstract: Objective  To provide some guidance and reference for exploring the theoretical innovation, comprehensive management and future practice of related work by analyzing the volunteer service motivation structure and main influencing factors of public hospital employees. Methods  From March to April 2020, A questionnaire survey was conducted among the staff in a  tertiary childrens hospital in Beijing who had volunteering experience in the past year. Totally 326 valid questionnaires were collected, with a recovery rate of 88.11%. The questionnaire was sorted and analyzed by using Excel 2019 and SPSS 21.0. Results  The total score of volunteer service motivation was 31.6±7.8, the average scores of six types of volunteer service motivation of the respondents were value expression 5.9 ± 1.1, learning and understanding 5.6 ± 1.4, self-improvement 5.5 ± 1.3, career development 5.2 ± 1.5, social communication 4.9 ± 1.6 and self-protection 4.6 ± 1.7 points respectively. Different types of motivation show a trend of increasing with educational background and professional title, but the intensity of motivation decreases. Except for the value expression motivation, the motivation intensity decreased with age, and the influence of job factors on motivation was also statistically significant (P<0.01). Conclusion  The volunteer service motivation of hospital staff is diverse and at a relatively positive level, and the value expression is the primary motivation. The motivation of young workers and nurses to participate in volunteer service is relatively positive, and the motivation of volunteers with high educational background, high professional title and medical technology and scientific research posts needs to be strengthened. It is suggested that we should further promote the in-depth integration and innovative design of volunteer service and post work, give full play to the advantages of professional skills, enrich the modes of volunteer service activities, and promote the sustainable development of hospital staff volunteer service.
