Application and research of objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) in clinical medicine

Abstract: Objective To study whether objective structured clinical examination (OSCE) is suitable for large-scale clinical medical graduation examination, to provide objective reference for clinical teaching reform and training program revision. Methods The clinical practice skills of 1 554 clinical medical students in Grade 2016 and 2017 were assessed by OSCE. A total of 1000 students were randomly selected from two grades to conduct a questionnaire survey. Results The overall performance of OSCE assessment results was normal distribution, among which the second station auxiliary interpretation was the lowest point in nine stations (P<0.05). The results of the questionnaire show that 99.7% of the examinees agree that OSCE is helpful for the future clinical work, and 98.52% of the examinees think it worthy of promotion. Conclusion OSCE is recognized by the examinees as a relatively fair and effective comprehensive assessment method for clinical skills, and is suitable for the assessment mode of clinical medicine graduates.
