Abstract: This article comprehensively reviews studies on Japan's preservation for Kampo medicine, sorts out the history of Kampo medicine development, thoroughly analyzes the applied preservation, and discusses the promotion measures Japan has implemented for Kampo medicine from seven aspects: ① simplifying the registration and approval process; ②emphasizing the research and development; ③ strengthening the production and quality management; ④ classifying and managing the sales; ⑤ improving the intellectual property protection and management system; ⑥.enacting laws and regulations to ensure institutional education; ⑦actively conducting international cooperation research. This article summarizes successful experience of Japan's efforts, providing useful insights and references for the high-quality development and protection of development achievements in traditional Chinese medicine in China.
