Abstract: Labor education is an important part of the socialist education system with Chinese characteristics and anessential component of ideological and political education for medical students. It has comprehensive educational values incultivating virtues, enhancing intelligence, strengthening physical fitness, and nurturing aesthetics. In the new historical era,it is particularly important to strengthen labor education for medical students, cultivate their passion for labor, and developtheir labor skills related to their majors. This article focuses on the design and implementation of labor education courses formedical students in the new era. Taking the high consistency between the contents of labor education—hard work, selflessdedication and courage to take responsibility—and the professional qualities of medical students as the entry point, it fullyexplores the ideological and political elements contained in labor education. Thus, a comprehensive, practical and targetedlabor education course for medical students under the "12453" model (one core, two channels, four modules, fivecombinations and three-step improvement) is formed. The course aims to guide medical students to establish a correctconcept of labor values, improve their labor literacy and strengthen their sense of responsibility, so as to provide a referencefor constantly enriching the contents and forms of labor education courses for medical students.
