Abstract: To realize the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and to build an innovative country is both a historical requirement and a mission of the times. Education is a national priority. How to establish an effective mechanism for training top-notch innovative talents and how to promote them to come to the fore are urgent requirements for current educational reform. To strengthen the selection and training of top-notch innovative talents of basic disciplines,and serve the countrys major strategic needs, the basic medicine specialty of Zhongshan Medical College, Sun Yat-sen University has continuously promoted the work deployment of the Ministry of Education in recent years, which takes “four orientations” as the starting point of talents training, relies on abundant resources and conditions for running schools, promotes the “Double First-Class” development, implements the “Double Ten-Thousand Plan” and the “Plan for Strengthening Basic Academic Disciplines”, builds the top-notch base, and leads teachers and students to focus on the worlds scientific and technological frontiers, major national strategies and peoples life and health needs to cultivate top-notch innovative talents for serving the national biosafety strategy and meeting major human health challenges, and so to explore and practice the training mechanisms of top-notch innovative talents in basic medicine.
