Abstract: The plan of “Healthy China”is closely related to the reform and development of higher pharmaceutical education. It attaches great significance both in the development of various programs and in talents education mode. On the pathway to elevating education quality and seeking excellence, an examination of the relationship among status quo of China’s pharmaceutical education, personnel cultivation goal and social demand is crucial. This paper emphasizes that China’s higher pharmaceutical education, while confronted with opportunities, is also faced with challenges, such as lack of healthcare professional personnel, severe shortage of pharmaceutical care practitioners and an urge for updating pharmaceutical education concepts. It also puts forward suggestions on launching the construction of several programs related to healthcare industry; constructing a Chinese characteristic pharmaceutical care education system; optimizing government, industry, university and research mechanism; and deepening the education mode of pharmaceutical talents.
